NEW MID GUIDELINES FOR 2024-2025

Music·Musique NB is releasing the 2024-2025 Guidelines for the Music Industry Development (MID) Investment Program, on an all-new platform!

ARTIST DEVELOPMENT | LIVE PERFORMANCE | MARKETING

  • September 1, 2024 | 6 PM AST

SHOWCASE + BUSINESS TRAVEL

  • April 15, 2024 | 6 PM AST

NEW THIS YEAR

Eligible expenses incurred up to six (6) months prior to the deadline can be included in the completion report, provided they are incurred in the same fiscal year (April 1 to March 31) as the project.

  • What does this mean? For example, if you apply for Live Performance at the September 1 deadline but you had a tour during the Summer, you’ll be able to include all those dates in your investment application. No more waiting for the deadlines to start your projects!

The Showcase and Professional Development + Business Travel components have been combined in a new component called Showcase + Business Travel.

  • What does this mean? All the same types of activities and expenses that were eligible under the Showcase or PD + Business Travel umbrella are still eligible. You now only need to fill out one application if you are traveling for business, professional, or market development, or showcasing purposes.

The Live Performance criteria were updated to better reflect the component’s targeted outcomes. Now, a minimum of five (5) confirmed dates, and up to three (3) dates in negotiation, in different municipalities is required at the time of application. The dates must be within a four-month period. Eligibility for repeat performances in the same city (e.g. a ‘two-night stand”, a "regular Saturday night at a bar'', an extended engagement, etc.) is subject to approval. This component is now juried.

  • What does this mean? Investment in the Live Performance component aims to increase the presence of NB artists outside the province and increase the opportunities to develop and access other markets. The changes will allow the program to invest more fully in touring activities which, as we know, are getting more and more costly, and less and less lucrative.
